Following the passage of President Trump's domestic policy package, Congress is now focusing on crypto regulations. The week of July 14 has been designated ‘Crypto Week’ in the House, during which three digital asset-related bills will be considered: the GENIUS Act, the CLARITY Act, and the Anti-CBDC Surveillance Act. The GENIUS Act, passed by the Senate, aims to regulate stablecoins and has garnered both support for its potential impact and criticism for insufficient consumer protections. The CLARITY Act proposes a market structure for cryptocurrencies, dividing authority between the CFTC and SEC. The least prioritized bill, the Anti-CBDC Surveillance Act, addresses concerns about a federal central bank digital currency and seeks to restrict the Fed's ability to issue or research one. As Congress races to finalize these legislations before their summer recess, intense debates are expected regarding consumer protection versus innovation in the fast-evolving crypto sector.
