Crypto leverage trader James Wynn loses $25M on Bitcoin bet
James Wynn, a prominent crypto leverage trader, has reported a loss of $25 million after being liquidated on a Bitcoin position involving 240 Bitcoin. Despite attempting to manage risk by manually closing parts of his position, Wynn faced liquidation at a price that negatively impacted his substantial long bet on Bitcoin. Following this, he has claimed market manipulation against him and is seeking donations to support his claims. Wynn previously engaged in a series of high-stakes trades and had rolled out a $1.25 billion bet on Bitcoin shortly before his significant loss. His trading activities tend to capture attention due to their scale and publicity on the Hyperliquid platform. After the liquidation of his recent position, the co-founder of Binance suggested the creation of a dark pool decentralized exchange to address issues like front-running and slippage associated with public order books in decentralized exchanges.
