Crypto Gaming Handheld Shipments Delayed Over 'Excessive' Import Duties
The shipment of the SuiPlay0X1 gaming handheld has been delayed due to unexpected import duties, some exceeding $350 per device. Buyers are frustrated as Mysten Labs, the manufacturer, announced it cannot absorb these tariffs given that the device is priced at nearly manufacturing cost of $599. The delays stem from the impact of tariffs imposed by previous U.S. policies, which have resulted in a significant increase in costs for consumers. Some buyers reported duties of over $138, while others faced charges as high as $348. Mysten Labs is currently suspending shipments while it investigates the fees and potential solutions. The company has advised affected customers to reach out for support regarding the excessive fees, which vary by state. So far, 2,000 units have shipped, with an additional 3,000 units on hold until the situation is clarified. The SuiPlay0X1 aims to compete with devices like the Steam Deck and supports a range of blockchain games.
