Could ‘Reaper Actual’ be the breakout crypto shooter?
Distinct Possibility Studios has unveiled its ambitious first-person, open-world military extraction shooter game, Reaper Actual, after two years of development. With a pre-alpha version expected soon, the game aims to provide a dynamic, persistent environment that changes between play sessions, unlike the static maps in other shooter games. The larger island map of Marova will feature PvPvE action, combining player combat with environmental challenges. The project has secured $30.5 million in funding, which is significant for a crypto gaming endeavor but may not suffice to compete with high-budget titles. With a team of over 93 developers from various outsourcing firms working on the game, Reaper Actual is designed to incorporate blockchain elements via Tezos technology, allowing players to trade in-game items. John Smedley, a gaming veteran, emphasizes that the game focuses on fun gameplay while presenting an optional blockchain ecosystem, catering to traditional gamers who may not want to engage with crypto features immediately.
