CoinDCX employee arrested in connection with $44M crypto hack
A CoinDCX employee has been arrested in connection with a $44 million hack of the cryptocurrency exchange. Rahul Agarwal, a software engineer at CoinDCX, was detained by Bengaluru City police after it was discovered that his login credentials were compromised through his work laptop. An internal investigation by CoinDCX operator Neblio Technologies revealed that unauthorized access to company servers occurred, allowing hackers to siphon off significant assets. Although Agarwal denied involvement in the theft, he admitted to working for multiple private clients while employed at CoinDCX. The investigation is ongoing, with CoinDCX suggesting that the breach was likely a sophisticated social engineering attack aiming at employees. Siphons occurred during the night of July 19, during which a considerable sum was transferred to multiple wallets. The police indicated that malware was installed on Agarwal's office laptop, leading to the breach.
