Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, announced that over 40% of the code powering the platform is generated by artificial intelligence, a substantial increase from April's figures. He aims to raise this percentage to 50% by the next month, emphasizing the importance of responsible use of AI in the coding process. While the AI-generated code requires review, Coinbase is not looking to replace its workforce, which currently stands at 4,200 employees, with AI. Instead, the company is focused on transforming its staff into 'AI-Natives,' encouraging engineers to integrate AI tools into their daily workflows. This integration has led to greater efficiency, allowing engineers to complete coding tasks in days rather than months. Armstrong also recently dismissed engineers who could not justify their reluctance to adopt AI technologies. Additionally, Coinbase is actively hiring over 150 professionals, particularly in backend engineering roles, reflecting the growing influence of AI in the tech landscape and its impact on hiring trends in the cryptocurrency sector.
