Coinbase Ventures has led a $14.6 million investment in Bastion, a startup focusing on white-label stablecoin issuance. The funding round included participation from Sony and Samsung's venture arms, as well as Andreessen Horowitz's crypto fund and Hashed. Founded in 2022 by former Andreessen Horowitz executives, Bastion helps companies issue branded stablecoins without needing to secure regulatory licenses or build technical infrastructure. After raising $25 million in a previous seed round, the company now employs 27 staff and offers services such as wallet infrastructure and fiat off-ramps in 70 countries. This investment comes at a time of increased interest in stablecoins, which have recently evolved to play significant roles in mainstream payments. The overall crypto fundraising volumes have risen notably in recent months, with Coinbase Ventures leading in deal counts.
