Coinbase Acquires Token Management Platform LiquiFi
Coinbase announced the acquisition of Liquifi, a token management platform focused on assisting early-stage projects navigate legal and compliance challenges in the crypto space. The deal, valued at an undisclosed amount, is part of Coinbase's strategy to enhance its service offerings and follows four other acquisitions made by the exchange this year. Liquifi has raised $5 million previously and has been utilized by major players such as the Uniswap Foundation. With this acquisition, Coinbase aims to improve on-chain development and compliance features, which are viewed as significant barriers for businesses in the cryptocurrency sector. Liquifi's functionalities are expected to be integrated into Coinbase Prime, its brokerage service aimed at institutional investors. This acquisition is also seen as a move to bolster Coinbase's layer-2 scaling network known as Base, designed to support global app adoption.
