Chainlink to Bring More Trump Admin Agencies On-Chain—With Eye on Aiding Elections
Chainlink is expanding its partnerships with various U.S. government agencies, starting with the Department of Commerce, to bring more government functions on-chain. Co-founder Sergey Nazarov shared that they aim to integrate public economic data into crypto markets initially and have long-term goals for utilizing blockchain technology in U.S. elections. Although the technology for blockchain election verification is ready, Nazarov stated that political obstacles are the main barrier to implementation. Currently, the Department of Commerce is leveraging Chainlink to upload GDP data across multiple blockchain networks, facilitating its integration into the decentralized finance ecosystem. Nazarov emphasized the importance of gaining governmental trust for broader crypto initiatives and indicated they are in discussions with state governments for similar projects. He noted that while the first steps may seem modest, they lay the groundwork for more ambitious government applications of blockchain technology, particularly in areas like voter verification and identity management.
