Canary CEO Predicts Bitcoin Will Hit $150K This Year—But Ethereum Surge Won't Last
Steven McClurg, CEO of Canary Capital, forecasts that Bitcoin could reach $150,000 by the end of 2025, citing increasing demand from institutional investors and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). He predicts a bear market will follow in 2026. McClurg considers Ethereum an outdated technology, suggesting newer blockchains like Solana and Sui are overtaking it. Despite Ethereum’s recent surge, which has brought it close to its all-time high, McClurg doubts this momentum will last, emphasizing that other protocols are faster and more secure. On the contrary, some analysts argue that Ethereum's robust developer ecosystem will maintain its competitive edge, noting that it is likely to catch up to Bitcoin in relative price. There is also a growing concern that billions in Ethereum may be unstaked, potentially exerting downward pressure on its price. McClurg compared Litecoin to silver, suggesting it could experience a resurgence as a favored option for smaller transactions. Overall, market dynamics and seasonal trends are expected to influence cryptocurrency volatility in the coming months.
