Metaplanet, a Japanese company, has recently purchased 780 more bitcoins, raising its total holdings to 17,132 BTC, which is now valued at approximately $2 billion. The company acquired the latest bitcoins at an average price of 17.5 million yen ($118,176) each. Following the announcement, Metaplanet's shares soared by 5%, significantly outperforming the Nikkei 225 index that declined by 1.1%. Metaplanet has developed a unique metric called BTC Yield to assess shareholder value in relation to dilution, reporting a BTC Yield of 22.5% for the period of July 1-28, an increase from 129.4% in the previous quarter. Since adopting a treasury strategy similar to that of MicroStrategy, Metaplanet's holdings have expanded to be the largest among public companies outside the U.S.
