Blockstream Warns of New Email Phishing Campaign Targeting Users
Blockstream has issued a warning regarding a new email phishing campaign aimed at users of its Jade hardware wallet. The phishing scam imitates a firmware update notification, encouraging users to click on a link that leads to a malicious website. Blockstream clarified that it does not distribute firmware files via email and confirmed that no data breaches have occurred. The rise in phishing attacks in the crypto sector has been significant, with reports indicating a 67% increase in scams affecting over 15,000 victims in August alone. Such scams typically masquerade as messages from reputable companies, often invoking urgency regarding account security issues to obtain sensitive information like private keys or passwords. Users are advised to verify URLs, bookmark trusted pages, and avoid clicking on links from unknown sources to enhance their online security against these scams.
