Anatoly Legkodymov, co-founder and former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange Bitzlato, has reportedly requested a federal pardon from US President Donald Trump following his guilty plea in 2023. Legkodymov pleaded guilty to charges of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and served 18 months in prison. His legal team has approached Trump for a pardon, as reported by Russian state media outlet TASS. Legkodymov was indicted in January 2023 and has since pleaded guilty to facilitating the transfer of illicit funds, allegedly linking Bitzlato to hundreds of millions of dollars flowing to the dark web Hydra Marketplace. This request comes in the wake of Trump having granted several pardons to individuals in the crypto industry, including figures connected to the Silk Road and BitMEX exchange. Other notable industry figures, like Changpeng Zhao and Sam Bankman-Fried, have reportedly made similar requests for clemency from Trump. The White House has not yet responded to inquiries regarding Legkodymov's pardon request.
