BitMine Boosts Ethereum Stash Above $8 Billion, Now Holds 1.5% of ETH Supply
BitMine Immersion Technologies has recently increased its Ethereum holdings by purchasing 153,000 ETH, investing approximately $655 million, which brings its total Ethereum stash to 1.86 million ETH, valued at over $8 billion. The company aims to acquire 5% of Ethereum's total supply, currently holding about 1.5% of the total 120.7 million ETH in circulation. BitMine has become the largest corporate holder of Ethereum, surpassing the combined totals of other entities, including SharpLink Gaming and the Ethereum Foundation. Tom Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat and chair of BitMine, emphasized the transformative period for Ethereum, comparing it to the pivotal moment in 1971 when the U.S. transitioned away from the gold standard. He anticipates that Ethereum will emerge as a key component of digital assets and financial systems. He also noted that as Bitcoin is perceived as a digital store of value, the influence of Ethereum is expected to grow significantly, particularly with the rise of stablecoins and tokenized equities in the digital economy.
