Bitmain to open first US-based ASIC chip factory
Bitmain, a leading Bitcoin mining ASIC manufacturer, plans to open its first US-based production facility by early 2026, signaling a shift in the industry towards the US. The company is also considering new headquarters in either Texas or Florida by the end of Q3 2025. Irene Gao, Bitmain’s global business chief, indicated that chip production is expected to commence in early 2026 with full-scale manufacturing projected for the end of that year. This move aims to enhance delivery and repair times for US clients and involves hiring 250 local workers in the initial phase. The decision comes as Bitmain joins Canaan and MicroBT in relocating production to the US, responding to both trade tensions and a favorable regulatory landscape. Notably, Bitmain has previously faced challenges with US authorities due to ties with Chinese companies, which the new US plant may help mitigate.
