Bitcoin treasury companies acquired 244,991 bitcoin in the first half of 2025: K33
In the first half of 2025, bitcoin treasury companies acquired a significant total of 244,991 bitcoin, marking an increased interest in a bitcoin treasury strategy. The number of firms adopting this strategy nearly doubled from 70 to 134 within the same period. Companies from the US, Canada, Japan, and the UK are leading in this trend, while firms from a total of 27 countries participate. In addition to this growth in treasury companies, the first six months of the year saw stablecoins USDT and USDC's circulating supply expand by $38 billion, indicating a movement towards stablecoin investments. However, aside from stablecoins, only nine out of the top 50 cryptocurrencies experienced positive returns, with just three — XMR, HYPE, and SKY — outperforming bitcoin. Analysts suggest that H2 might see stronger performance for bitcoin, potentially aided by upcoming altcoin ETFs and regulatory developments, along with more crypto IPOs expected to follow.
