Bitcoin Liquid Staking Gains Momentum with Lombard's $BARD Token
Lombard Finance is introducing liquid staking to Bitcoin, transitioning it from a passive asset into a productive component of decentralized finance (DeFi). Currently, Bitcoin's liquid staking market stands at around $2.5 billion, significantly smaller than Ethereum's $38 billion market. Lombard has launched the Liquid Bitcoin Foundation and the $BARD token, with a $6.75 million community sale for LBTC holders and the broader Bitcoin community. Liquid staking allows users to stake their Bitcoin and receive LBTC, a yield-bearing token that can be used across various DeFi protocols, such as Aave and Pendle. This innovation aims to mobilize dormant Bitcoin liquidity and integrate it into on-chain capital markets, adding functionality to Bitcoin as a productive asset rather than just a store of value. Lombard's LBTC accounts for about 40% of the Bitcoin liquid staking market. The $BARD token will enable utility and governance, allowing holders to participate in protocol decisions.
