A recent report from market intelligence firm Perception highlighted a significant lack of coverage for Bitcoin in the mainstream media during Q2 2025, despite the cryptocurrency reaching an all-time high. Major outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and The New York Times collectively published only 13 articles on Bitcoin, accounting for just 2% of all media coverage related to Bitcoin and crypto. The overall sentiment towards Bitcoin was also polarized, with 31% of articles being positive, 41% neutral, and 28% negative. The report identified three narrative trends among media outlets: 'enthusiastic adoption' from platforms like Forbes and CNBC, 'willful blindness' from elite financial publications, and 'persistent skepticism' from traditional news sources. This disparity in coverage creates an 'information asymmetry', leaving investors relying on elite financial media systematically underinformed about the cryptocurrency market.
