Binance taps ex-Gemini exec Gillian Lynch to reboot Europe push
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has appointed Gillian Lynch as head of Europe and the UK, marking a renewed effort to secure regulatory approval in these regions. Lynch, with over 20 years in fintech and digital assets, has held senior roles at firms including Gemini and Bank of Ireland. Her appointment comes amidst increasing scrutiny that Binance faces in Europe and is aimed at aligning with EU regulations. Lynch will manage regional strategy, operations, and regulatory engagements. This move reflects Binance's long-term commitment to regulation and user protection. Lynch stated her eagerness to enhance the company's presence in Europe through collaboration with regulators and the community. Commenting on the new regulatory landscape established by MiCA, she expressed optimism about the future of compliance. Recently, Binance sought to comply with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, however, it withdrew services from the Netherlands due to licensing failures. As MiCA regulations come into full effect, the crypto industry is entering a new era of legitimacy.
