Binance Exec Tigran Gambaryan Leaves Firm, Months After Nigerian Hostage Crisis
Tigran Gambaryan, head of financial crime compliance at Binance, has left the company to pursue new job opportunities in the public and private sectors after four years with the crypto exchange. Gambaryan announced his departure on LinkedIn, indicating a desire for new challenges. He played a crucial role at Binance by building a team to strengthen the company's compliance with U.S. and international standards, responding to over 57,000 law enforcement requests. His exit follows a turbulent period, including his detention in Nigeria in 2024 related to his work at Binance, from which he was released after eight months. Gambaryan, a former IRS agent, emphasized the need for experienced professionals in technology compliance and looks forward to continuing his impact in this space. His resignation is part of a larger trend of executive departures at Binance, including the exit of founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao amid ongoing legal challenges.
