During a visit to Bhutan, Binance CEO Richard Teng discussed how cryptocurrency aligns with the country's Gross National Happiness (GNH) philosophy. He emphasized that crypto promotes financial freedom and inclusion, which can enhance individual well-being. Teng noted that although crypto may seem speculative, the technology has the potential to uplift communities lacking access to traditional financial services. He highlighted examples of individuals globally who gained financial independence through cryptocurrencies. Teng believes Bhutan's approach to digital assets could similarly positively impact its citizens. The Bhutanese government, led by King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, has been open to adopting digital assets as part of its development strategy. The country currently holds over 13,000 BTC, making it one of the largest Bitcoin-holding nations. Bhutan aims to attract foreign investments through crypto adoption while balancing these innovations with the country’s happiness-focused principles.
