Billions in Ethereum Waiting to Be Unstaked Could Add Sell Pressure to ETH: Analyst
Ethereum stakers are lining up to withdraw their ETH, with the validator exit queue hitting a record 855,158 ETH, valued at approximately $3.7 billion. This growing trend could potentially place sell pressure on Ethereum, contributing to recent price declines. Bitwise Senior Investment Strategist Juan Leon noted that the queue is expected to take about 15 days to clear and could negatively affect ETH's price, especially if staked ETH trades at a discount. Such dynamics could trigger risk cuts or liquidations leading to further sell-offs. Despite Ethereum’s recent price surge as it approached an all-time high, experts warn that the spike in unstaked tokens may create a steady supply, potentially overriding new demand for ETH. Previously, Ethereum's price dipped over 3% as market uncertainties loomed. Although the current unstaking trend raises concerns, some analysts believe it may not lead to a drastic price drop but could exert downward pressure under challenging market conditions.
