Billions in Ethereum Waiting to Be Unstaked Could Add Sell Pressure to ETH: Analyst
Ethereum stakers are beginning to withdraw funds, but this may adversely affect the cryptocurrency's recent price rise. The Ethereum blockchain's validator exit queue reached a record of 855,158 ETH, valued at approximately $3.7 billion, which might create significant sell pressure on ETH. The withdrawal limit is designed to maintain stability within the network, and currently, the queue is expected to clear in about 15 days. As more ETH becomes available for unstaking, it could lead to further price declines, particularly if staked ETH trades at less than spot market value, as this could trigger liquidations that result in further selling. Recent upward trends in ETH's price may reverse due to this unstaking mass, especially following a significant price drop that occurred after Ethereum approached its all-time high. Overall, while efforts to unstake are on the rise, it doesn’t necessarily guarantee that the price will plummet, but it can influence supply and demand dynamics within the market.
