Billions in Ethereum Waiting to Be Unstaked Could Add Sell Pressure to ETH: Analyst
Ethereum stakers are increasingly looking to withdraw their ETH, with the validator exit queue reaching 855,158 ETH worth about $3.7 billion. This surge in unstaking could impose significant sell pressure on Ethereum, particularly as the queued assets may cause a decline in prices. The Ethereum network's system limits the pace at which ETH can be unstaked to maintain stability, but the current queue could take about 15 days to clear. According to Bitwise analyst Juan Leon, this increasing liquidity may trigger liquidations or hedging strategies, amplifying the sell-off. Despite this potential downward pressure, Leon noted that rising unstaked ETH doesn't necessarily indicate an imminent crash; it reflects a slow increase in supply that may dampen demand.
