Billions in Ethereum Waiting to Be Unstaked Could Add Sell Pressure to ETH: Analyst
Ethereum holders are increasingly lining up to unstake their ETH, with the validator exit queue reaching a record 855,158 ETH worth approximately $3.7 billion. This trend could exert significant sell pressure on the cryptocurrency, particularly following a 3% price dip just after nearing an all-time high. The process of staking involves locking up tokens for rewards, but uncertain market conditions are prompting stakers to withdraw. Current limits on unstaking aim to maintain network stability by preventing mass exits. However, as the queue grows—expected to take 15 days to clear—analysts warn that it may impact ETH's price if staked ETH trades below the market value. This potential scenario could lead to unwinding of trades and increased selling pressure. Despite these concerns, some experts believe that increased supply might not lead to a drastic price drop unless it overwhelms existing demand for ETH.
