Barter Acquires Copium Capital's Solver Codebase
Barter, the second-largest routing engine on Ethereum and top solver on CoW Swap, has acquired the solver codebase of competitor Copium Capital. This acquisition aims to enhance Barter's market share, as Copium specialized in efficient RFQ usage and market maker liquidity, while Barter focused on maximizing flow through automated market makers (AMMs). CEO Nikita Ovchinnik announced that integrating these strategies could help them surpass 50% market share. With Ethereum’s recent upgrades and the decline of RFQ share, Barter views these capabilities as crucial for maintaining leadership. The integration process will be gradual, initially focusing on new-token onboarding and RFQ upgrades for large trades. The solver market is evolving, with Barter aiming to expand its presence on platforms beyond CoW Swap. Ovchinnik emphasized that this acquisition is about shaping Ethereum's execution layer, asserting that solvers' algorithms significantly impact the prices users receive, despite users rarely interacting directly with them.
