Avalanche Crypto Game 'Raini: The Lords of Light' Is Shutting Down
Avalanche's NFT card game, Raini: The Lords of Light, is set to shut down on July 21, 2025, as announced by Raini Studios. Following a period of declining player engagement, the studio will focus on new projects, specifically Lucha Throwdown and Uncaged: The Jon Jones Brawler. To prepare for the shutdown, Raini is distributing 2 million in RST tokens (approximately $3,340) in rewards to players during June and July. Despite a 14% rise in the RST token price on the announcement day, it remains nearly 99% down from its peak in 2024. Raini Studios had previously shifted from Ethereum to Avalanche, initially launching its card game that drew inspiration from popular titles like Hearthstone, while incorporating crypto culture references. The company is also adopting a deflationary model for its RST tokens, aiming to enhance tokenomics as it moves forward without the Lords of Light.
