Another solo Bitcoin miner hits jackpot with $371,000 block reward
A solo Bitcoin miner successfully mined block 910,440 on August 18, 2025, earning a payout of 3.137 BTC, valued at approximately $371,000. The miner, part of the Solo CK pool, received 3.125 BTC as a block reward along with 0.012 BTC from transaction fees totaling $1,455 for processing 4,913 transactions. While solo mining is often viewed as a lottery due to the dominance of large industrial mining operations, Samuel Li from ASICKey noted that efficient hardware can increase a miner's chances. Currently, a miner using one petahash of hashpower has a 1 in 650,000 chance of solving a block every 10 minutes. Despite the low odds, this year has seen several solo miners achieving significant wins. Rising network difficulty and halving events have added challenges for all miners, even established companies, as they struggle to compete against increasing competition and high operational costs.
