Alleged French crypto kidnapping mastermind arrested in Morocco
Badiss Mohamed Amide Bajjou, a 24-year-old French-Moroccan man, was arrested by Moroccan police at the request of French authorities. He is accused of being a ringleader behind several recent kidnappings related to cryptocurrency in France. His arrest followed a red notice issued by Interpol in 2023 for his ties to various kidnappings and criminal activities. French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed the arrest, highlighting strong judicial cooperation between France and Morocco. Recent incidents linked to Bajjou include an attempted kidnapping of the daughter and grandson of Pierre Noizat, CEO of French crypto platform Paymium, and the abduction of a crypto entrepreneur in early May. Additionally, David Balland, co-founder of Ledger, was held captive earlier this year. In response to rising crypto-related kidnappings, French law enforcement is providing enhanced security measures and support for victims and their families.
